Six years of survey, testing, and monitoring identified water leaks in the concrete roof of the Mercer Museum as the greatest building conservation issue affecting this unique 1916 structure. To halt water penetration a rigorous preservation philosophy was followed with provision for movement built into all joints prone to movement, repair of all cracks and defects to reduce water penetration, and preservation of the mottled appearance.
